Description: This is a polygon data set representing existing and potential Boise Municipal Irrigation Districts (BMID's or MID's for short). The Boise Municipal Irrigation Districts are pressurized water distribution systems that distribute non-potable water to individual properties for irrigation purposes; these districts are often referred to as pressurized irrigation districts. Property owners connect to the pressure irrigation system and use it to irrigate their property. Boise Municipal Irrigation Districts were established by the Boise City Mayor and Council to operate as outlined in the Idaho State Code 31-3805 (Zoning regulations for Delivery of Water). The ordinance states that a pressure irrigation system must be built as a part of all residential subdivisions, as long as an irrigation water right exists and it is practical to install the pressure irrigation system. MID's are typically associated with the primary subdivision, or subdivisions, that it encompasses. Consequently, the common name for an MID will be the same as the subdivision(s) within it. The boundaries of an MID typically extend to street centerlines. There are instances where an MID does not service an entire subdivision, and instances where an MID services parcels outside of a subdivision. The boundaries in this data set define service areas. This dataset was created by Boise City GIS and is maintained based on the input from the drawing plans and ordinances associated with each MID. The names and boundaries of the MIDs are subject to change as ordinances from Boise City are adopted and pressure irrigation systems grow. This data set is current to the date it was published.
